Walnut Street would like to extend a BIG thank you to all families who participated last night in our Literacy Night focusing on journal writing!  We had many wonderful conversations and saw so many great moments of family learning!  At the end of the evening we had an exit slip asking for 3 things you would do with journal writing at home.  A compiliation of those exit slips is below.  There are MANY excellent family literacy opportunities in the list - pick one activity today to do with your child over the weekend!

What an AMAZING list of journaling opportunities!  Kudos to the families and students who participated in Literacy Night last night.  Your critical thinking has supported so many other in writing that families can engage in together!

Last but certainly not least take a look below at what some of our youngest writers have to say about journaling.  I think that they have articulated the essence of journaling very concisely!

  1.  It is fun and simple! (too right my young friend!!)
  2. You can write on a piece of paper.  (we don't need to get fancy folks:))
  3. Get a journal and take a pencil and write. (in other words ... JUST DO IT!)
  4. #1 Take it home and write about your day. #2 Write a question #3 (my favorite) Write important stuff!
  5. Write on paper. (short, sweet, and to the point!)
